Gatsby Benchmark

In January 2018 the Government set eight Careers Guidance Benchmarks to ensure high quality and aspirational careers advice and guidance was available to all learners.  The Benchmarks outline the expected standards for quality careers guidance:

A stable careers programme

Learning from career and labour market information

Addressing the needs of each learner

Linking curriculum learning to careers

Encounters with employers and employees

Experiences of workplaces

Encounters with further and higher education

Personal guidance

The College is committed to working to the Benchmark.

College staff including teachers are responsible for supporting the delivery of our careers programme through many different formats including careers events, industry progression opportunities, employer engagement and educational visits.

Learners have the opportunity to meet with a range of employers, apprenticeship team, external providers, HE institutions and work places.

Employers

If you as an employer wish to make a contribution to the College, please contact us using our ‘ask the advisor’ email.

Parents

As a parent you will receive regular updates about your child’s progress and progression opportunities through our parent’s welcome evening and parent evenings. Additionally, you can contact our Learner Services and Careers Team directly at ask-the-adviser@westlancs.ac.uk.
